Design award for Hamline’s Anderson University Center

Hamline - south facadeShepley Bulfinch’s design of the Anderson University Center at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota has won a Facilities Design Award from the Association of College Unions International (ACUI), it was announced at ACUI’s annual conference last week.

“This award honors more than the design of the Anderson Center,” said Shepley Bulfinch project designer Luke Voiland. “It recognizes the value of a design and planning process that brought everyone to the table.”

Hamline breaks ground on new University Center

With hard hats on and shovels in hand, students, faculty, alumni, and donors broke ground on Hamline University’s new University Center today at the site for the new building, on the southwest edge of Hamline’s campus in St. Paul, Minnesota.  University President Linda Hanson announced that the building would be named the Carol Young Anderson and Dennis Anderson University Center, in honor of the project’s lead donors.

Kanbar Campus Center wins design excellence award

The Kanbar Campus Center at Philadelphia University was one of four student centers to receive the 2007 Facility Design Award of Excellence at the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) annual conference in Atlanta last month.

Entries were judged not only on the basis of the facilities’ appearance, but also on the process used to arrive at the design and how the new or renovated facility has impacted the campus.

Lab of the Future Meetup

On Wednesday, November 2nd, Shepley Bulfinch was proud to host the Boston-area “Lab of the Future” Meetup group’s first official meetup at our office. With Lab Design as the theme for the first meetup, organizers Lindsey Christensen and Robin Shin arranged for the discussion to revolve around laboratory design happening in our own backyards at Harvard and MIT. After mingling over pizza and drinks (courtesy of the event’s co-sponsor TetraScience), attendees took their seats for the two-part presentation.
