UNM Science and Math Learning Center dedicated

The University of New Mexico’s Science & Mathematics Learning Center in Albuquerque was dedicated on March 4, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and building tour. University Regent Carolyn Abeita and President David Schmidly were joined by political and community leaders and senior administrators for the event.

The University of Houston’s new Health and Biomedical Sciences Building 2 is well underway, and set to be completed in late 2017. The new, multi-disciplinary facility that will feature specialized research space, labs, offices, an expanded library, and an integrated healthcare clinic to serve the University of Houston community as well as surrounding community members. LEED Gold for Colby’s Davis Science Center

Sometimes the best lesson in environmental responsibility on campus is the academic building around you.

For Colby College, its commitment to sustainable design and practice was affirmed when the Davis Science Center received LEED Gold Certification this fall from the US Green Building Council.

The Center is Shepley Bulfinch’s eighth project to be LEED Gold Certified.

The design responds to the Georgian architecture of Colby’s existing campus while incorporating best practices in sustainable design, including local sourcing of materials. The dominant exterior material is water struck ‘Colby Blend’ brick, manufactured by the same nearby brickyard that ...[more]

That was the big question at last week’s conference at Wake Forest on Rethinking Success, from the Liberal Arts to Careers in the 21st century, which drew academic and student development leaders from across the country.
