Interior Design honors for Phoenix Financial Center

2015 BOY award winner seal 150pxShepley Bulfinch’s renovation of the South Rotunda of the Phoenix Financial Center took home top honors in the 2015 Interior Design magazine Best of Year (BOY) Awards in the Designer’s Own Office category. Winners were announced at Interior Design’s Best of Year Gala in New York last week.

The Phoenix Financial Center was designed by Peruvian-born architect W.A. Sarmiento and completed in 1964, and today is one of the city’s most prominent mid-century buildings.

Shepley Bulfinch’s Arizona office is settling in to a new home in the South Rotunda of the iconic Phoenix Financial Center as the building prepares to mark its 50th anniversary.

On September 20, Shepley Bulfinch’s move was the subject of a major piece in the Arizona Republic, “Phoenix architects renovate, move in to Phoenix landmark.”

Phoenix Financial CenterShepley Bulfinch is growing its way to a new home this summer when we move into the south Rotunda at the landmark Phoenix Financial Center at North Central and Osborn.

For the past five years, the Phoenix architecture office has called The Link, its studio at 1st and McDowell, home. When we started to outgrow the space last year, we knew we were looking for something more than square footage. With its distinctive inverted concrete arches and domed roof, the south Rotunda could not have been a better fit.

Holocaust and Human Rights Center receives national award

AUGUSTA, ME – The Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine received national honors from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) today when they were presented with a 2009 award for Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel (IDEAS2). The project was one of eleven honored by the AISC as part of its annual nationwide recognition of outstanding achievements in engineering and architecture on structural steel projects.
