LEED Gold for Colby’s Davis Science Center

LEED Gold

Sometimes the best lesson in environmental responsibility on campus is the academic building around you.

For Colby College, its commitment to sustainable design and practice was affirmed when the Davis Science Center received LEED Gold Certification this fall from the US Green Building Council.

The Center is Shepley Bulfinch’s eighth project to be LEED Gold Certified.

The design responds to the Georgian architecture of Colby’s existing campus while incorporating best practices in sustainable design, including local sourcing of materials. The dominant exterior material is water struck ‘Colby Blend’ brick, manufactured by the same nearby brickyard that ...[more]

Urban mixed-use complex takes home honors

Latitude, the mixed-use residential project designed by Shepley Bulfinch for CA Ventures and the Argent Group in Lincoln, Nebraska, was honored by the Downtown Lincoln Association (DLA) at its annual meeting in October, taking home the association’s 2015 Residential Development Innovation Award. The DLA Impact Awards recognize businesses or individuals that have made a significant contribution to downtown Lincoln.

Latitude infuses Lincoln’s downtown with new life, filling an unmet demand for quality housing and transforming a vacant block near the University of Nebraska campus into a residential complex that supports a dynamic young population.

Calling the Phoenix Financial Center home

Shepley Bulfinch’s Arizona office is settling in to a new home in the South Rotunda of the iconic Phoenix Financial Center as the building prepares to mark its 50th anniversary.

On September 20, Shepley Bulfinch’s move was the subject of a major piece in the Arizona Republic, “Phoenix architects renovate, move in to Phoenix landmark.”
