Chime In 4

Yesterday afternoon, after three long days of toiling away under the I-93 overpass between South Boston and the South End, the Shepley Bulfinch team presented their final design concept, “Chime In,” before an audience of hack-a-thon participants, volunteers, and interested spectators… and the judges selected Chime In for the Most Innovative Design award! Urban Innovation Festival Hack-A-Thon Kickoff

PosterShepley Bulfinch is excited to be participating in the Urban Innovation Festival July 29-31, a 3-day urban design hack-a-thon organized by the Design Museum Boston. The Shepley Bulfinch team will be one of ten teams thinking about solutions for the MassDot Infra-Space 1, the area beneath I-93 that links Southie and the South End.

Shepley named program architect for IIT innovation institute

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel joined Illinois Tech President John Anderson on Friday to announce that Shepley Bulfinch and John Ronan Architects will program and design the planned Ed Kaplan Family Institute for Innovation and Tech Entrepreneurship on the University’s Mies van der Rohe campus.

Developing the program for the Institute means that Shepley will collaborate with IIT’s stakeholders and the design architect to explore, evaluate, and synthesize ways to create a new building type uniquely suited to IIT’s culture of research, collaboration, and invention.

Construction on the $40 million, 100,000 square-foot facility could begin as early as the summer of 2015 with a completion date anticipated in 2017.

Graphic design award for Harvard Innovation Lab

Print magazine has selected the graphic design of the Harvard Innovation Lab as a winner in the 2012 Regional Design Annual, which has just been published. The design was the work of Shepley graphic designers Dan Vlahos and Erin Deeley.

The ‘Hi’ design establishes a distinctive identity and conveys a sense of welcome for the i-lab on Harvard’s Allston, Massachusetts, campus. The ultimate start-up: Harvard innovation lab makes it official

It’s dedication day for Harvard’s innovation lab in Boston, but the buzz has been building all fall.

Shepley worked with Harvard to fast-track the creation of Batten Hall and the i-lab, transforming the old studios of WGBH into a high-energy space for campus and community. Say goodbye to the studios where Julia Child and Zoom! were filmed and hello to workshops and wide-open (and wired) spaces.

Or should we say ‘Hi,’ in the spirit of the i-lab’s signature logo, which Shepley created as part of the innovation lab’s brand?
