New Haven, CT – The Yale-New Haven Cancer Hospital was highlighted on the front page of today’s issue of the New England Real Estate Journal.
The fourteen-story, 511,000 s.f. cancer hospital, now under construction in New Haven, will offer comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care. The design of the Center includes a 7000 s.f. healing garden.
The $467 million project is seeking LEED certification from the US Green Building Council, incorporating sustainable design elements such as the recycling of some 20,000 tons of construction waste and the use of low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) paints and carpets.

In a ceremony yesterday, Shepley Bulfinch was presented with a LEED-CI Silver certification plaque for its corporate interior by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Barbra Batshalom LEED AP, executive director of the Green Roundtable, a USGBC affiliate, made the presentation to Principal Thomas D. Kearns AIA LEED AP, chairman of Shepley Bulfinch’s board of directors.
Among those acknowledged at the ceremony were project team and building committee members and our consultants including Turner Construction, R.G. Vanderweil, Robert Luchetti Associates, Lam Partners, Creative Office Pavilion, and Roll-Barresi.

BOSTON, MA — Yale-New Haven Hospital has received approval from the City of New Haven to proceed with the construction of its new, Comprehensive Cancer Center, designed by Shepley Bulfinch.
The 14-story, $430 million Yale-New Haven Cancer Center will reinforce Yale-New Haven Hospital’s reputation as a top-ranking cancer center and provide the region with a state-of-the-art diagnostic, treatment and research facility. Austin College’s new IDEA Center has received LEED Gold certification, and the fact that it is the first LEED Certified building on the college’s Sherman, Texas, campus is no coincidence.
