ELGIN, IL – Sherman Hospital celebrated the mid-December opening of its new campus with a gala event last night., where Sherman administrators, community leaders, donors, and architects celebrated the imminent completion of the hospital.
The hospital is hosting community tours today. The ‘Tree of Life”, in the atrium (pictured here), and hospital’s 15-acre geothermal lake, are among the features that visitors will see. The use of the geothermal lake is expected to save the hospital $1 million annually over conventional heating and cooling costs.

ELGIN, IL – Sherman Hospital will host a community open house on December 6 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm to celebrate the December 15 landmark opening of its new hospital and its 154-acre campus. The hospital is organizing 25- and 60-minute tours of the new facility throughout the open house.
Visitors arriving at the hospital will pass by the manifold room of Sherman’s signature geothermal lake, circled by a walking path and landscaped with native plantings. The 15-acre lake will save the hospital more than $1 million in heating and cooling costs ...[more]

CONCORD, NH – Concord Hospital has been awarded LEED certification for its East & North Wing addition and renovation, the first hospital in northern New England to do so.
The project’s design maximizes daylight and views with green roofs and courtyard gardens while skylights bring light deep into treatment spaces. The canopied entrance includes a waiting area that overlooks a garden and the drop-off area and a roof garden that is accessible from the ICU. On patient floors almost all spaces have access to natural light and views, while garden courtyards create a buffer from the road. BRUNSWICK, ME – Ground was broken today for the 35,392 s.f. expansion of Mid Coast Hospital, in a 13-shovel ceremony led by hospital president Herb Paris.
The project, which adds 25 percent to the size of the original hospital, will give Mid Coast a new and expanded Emergency Department and 18 private patient rooms in the hospital’s medical surgical unit. The current emergency room will be renovated to provide additional space fo rhte hospital’s diagnostics center.
The expansion will continue Shepley Bulfinch’s design of the original hospital and medical office building, completed in 2001.
The expansion is scheduled to open in 2010.

ROCHESTER, NH – Frisbie Memorial Hospital celebrated its major expansion in an open house for the public today. The new addition will open officially on July 17.
The first phase of the project, which includes 86,000 of new clinical space, accommodates new Women and Children’s Health Center, a Coronary Care Unit, and oncology department. The region’s growing demand for outpatient services will be met by an expanded outpatient facility, conveniently located near the hospital’s new main entry.

CONCORD, NH – More than 250 people celebrated the grand opening of the East and North Wing Additions of Concord Hospital yesteday. More than 250 guests attended the ribbon cutting and toured the new facility.
Hospital president and CEO Mike Green spoke about how the larger facilities help healthcare professionals improve privacy, efficiency, and comfort while enhancing the hospital’s ability to provide quality medical care.
Guests were invited to tour the 37-bed Emergency Department, the 20-room Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the20-room Progressive Care Unit (PCU). A beam signing ceremony today signaled the official start of construction on the new Children’s Hospital of Michigan in the heart of the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) Midtown Detroit campus. Patients, their families, community members, and DMC executives and staff joined the celebration, inscribing messages and well wishes on the 1.65 ton beam, which was placed as the cornerstone of this project.
