ecoFLEX wins 2009 Unbuilt Architecture Award

A Shepley Bulfinch design team has won a prestigious 2009 Unbuilt Architecture Design Award from the Boston Society of Architects.

ecoFLEX, the winning project, was one of ten winning entries chosen from more than 90 submissions in the BSA’s Unbuilt Architecture Design Awards program, which is open to architects from around the world. It was designed for the Tall Emblem Structure competition in Dubai earlier this year.

The Shepley Bulfinch design team of Angela Watson, Luke Voiland, Lauren Deck, and Allan Donnelly, joined by Paul Kassabian of Simpson Gumpertz and Heger, will be honored in November at the BSA Jurors’ Forum during the Build Boston, where the winning boards will be displayed.

Carole Wedge named Fellow, American Institute of Architects

BOSTON, MA – Shepley Bulfinch president Carole Wedge was formally inducted as a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in an investiture ceremony held at the historic Old South Church in Boston on May 16 as part of the AIA’s national convention.

A member of Shepley Bulfinch since 1986, she was elected its president in 2004. Throughout her career she has sought to transform organizations by challenging them to face issues with clarity, frankness, and commitment.

Elise Woodward receives 2007 Women in Design Award

Boston, MA – Elise Woodward, AIA LEED AP, was honored at Build Boston today, where she received the Award of Excellence at the eighth annual Women in Design conference.

The second woman architect at Shepley Bulfinch when she joined in 1981 and the third to be named a principal, Elise is a designer, mentor, and convener. As a leader of the firm, she served for six years on its five-member board of directors, four as board chair. Her rich and varied experience directing and shaping science, education, and healthcare projects has included healthcare and academic science and research buildings from Maine to California. Wagdy Anis named Fellow, American Institute of Architects

BOSTON, MA – Shepley Bulfinch Principal Wagdy A.Y. Anis FAIA, LEED AP, has been elevated to the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) prestigious College of Fellows, one of 76 AIA members nationwide to receive the honor.

He will receive his Fellowship medal during the Investiture of Fellows Ceremony at the AIA 2007 National Convention in San Antonio. The investiture will be held on May 4 at the Alamo.
