Carole Wedge elected to BSA Board of Directors

The Boston Society of Architects (BSA) announced today that Shepley Bulfinch president Carole Wedge, FAIA, LEED AP has been elected to a term as a director-at-large on the BSA board of directors.

A long-standing leader in Boston’s design community, Carole chaired the BSA host committee for the 2008 national convention of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 2008. She has served on the BSA’s ethics committee since 2007. At the national level, Carole is a member of the AIA Large Firm Roundtable and the AIA Strategic Directions Task Force. She has been president of Shepley Bulfinch since 2004.

Xavier board approves residence hall construction

Xavier University’s Board of Trustees approved the construction of a new residence hall and dining facility at its quarterly meeting on December 11.

The residence hall will house 530 students in suite-style living. The 800-seat campus-wide dining facility replaces the Hoff Marketplace dining hall where students now take all their meals. The 240,000 s.f. complex is scheduled for completion by the fall of 2011. Providing housing for an additional 500 students has been a priority for Xavier as a response to increased enrollment.

Joe Rondinelli, Senior Associate at Shepley Bulfinch, has been named to the Editorial Advisory Board of Contract magazine. Board responsibilities include participation in the annual Design Forum and a roundtable discussion at NeoCon, as well as advice and input on the magazine‚Äôs editorial content. Joe has had a long relationship with the editorial staff at Contract through his participation in judging the “Best of NeoCon ” and for his article contributions over the years to the magazine.

Garry Baker, AIAWe are saddened to announce the passing of Garry Baker, former Principal, Chief Operating Officer, and member of the Board of Directors of Shepley Bulfinch, on February 18.

Garry was a leader of the firm and our healthcare practice. In a career spanning more than 45 years his major interest was in team management and long-range planning. Garry was known for his long-standing client relationships and his self-proclaimed passion for the “orchestration of the team.”

Shepley Bulfinch announced that Luke Voiland AIA and Andre Kamili AIA, LEED AP have been named the firm’s newest principals, and that Matt Gifford AIA, LEED AP has been promoted to director.
