Design_Share_PosterAs part of Shepley Bulfinch’s mission to drive design beyond perceived boundaries, we strive daily to engage, critique, challenge and support one another across practices and offices. This summer, we continued to push further by hosting our Third Annual Design Share. In addition to devoting time to connect internally on some of our recent projects, we invited experts from multiple disciplines outside the AEC industry to discuss their processes and practices. While presenters’ professions varied, as expected, common threads around design – more so, good design – clearly emerged.

BSA Committee Explores How Sharing Space and Resources Catalyzes Biotech Ventures

What is the relationship between space and innovation in the workplace? IT startups have been engaging in this conversation for years, leading to the creation of several successful co-working facilities. But what about other industries? Can the “incubator model” be re-imagined across entrepreneurial ventures to foster other successful innovative ecosystems?

BSA’s Committee for Research and Innovation Design overwhelmingly decided the answer is yes, at its inaugural meeting last week at LabCentral in Boston.

Massachusetts Conference for Women Stage Speakers

Last week I was lucky enough to be one of the 11,000 women to attend the Massachusetts Conference for Women. Since it’s inception in 2005, the conference has provided access to connections, motivation, networking, inspiration, and skill-building for women of all backgrounds.
