Children’s Hospital of Michigan, a large pediatric provider, had the difficult challenge of trying to incorporate integrated Lean facility design in a tight time frame. Hear how they “blew up” the traditional design process to create an ambulatory specialty center, an emergency department, operating rooms where Lean principles are used, and a critical care tower to laterally expand existing operations in six months.
In “Blowing up the traditional design process,” Dr Joseph Lelli of Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Uma Ramanathan of Shepley Bulfinch, Doug Dulin of JWA Consulting, and David Jaeger of Harley Ellis Deveraux share lessons from the integrated facility design process. Attendees will explore how to reshape the conversation around hospital design and how this methodology could be applied to other hospital projects.
