Vieira_150x150How can healthcare spaces for geriatric populations respond to patients’ needs and the way they experience the environment around them? The renovation that created the Dorothy Adler Center for Geriatric Assessment at Yale-New Haven Hospital provides one of the country’s oldest and most comprehensive programs with a new home tailored to support the care of patients over the age of 65.

In this workshop, Mario Vieira and James Wisniewski are joined by Dr, Lisa Walke, Associate Chief of Clinical Affairs (Geriatric) at Yale Medical School, to discuss design strategies behind the new facility. Their discussion offers details of the evidence-based research behind the design and offers participants strategies for translating research into an implementable and cost-efficient design strategy.
