Missing 32 percentHow do you foster a culture that supports work-life balance in in the face of the pressures so often found in the architectural profession? This is a critical question at a time when women represent slightly less than 50% of students graduating from US architecture programs and 15-18% of AIA members, licensed architects, and senior firm leaders.

In “What’s flex got to do with it? Win-win strategies for work/life flexibility,” Carole Wedge and Frank Pitts explore successful strategies for both firm leaders and employees to develop infrastructure that promotes efficiency, balance and performance over the “Culture of Busy”.

The workshop is part of Equity By Design: Knowledge, Discussion, Action!, the third symposium co-presented by AIA San Francisco and The Missing 32% Project.

The promotion of work-life flexibility played a central part in Shepley Bulfinch’s honors in the AIA Diversity Recognition Program in 2011.
