The University of Houston’s Health and Biomedical Sciences Building took home top honors in the Medical category at the Houston Business Journal Landmark Awards last week. The winners of the awards, which celebrate Houston’s most influential real estate projects, were announced in a sold-out event at the Houstonian Hotel on April 24.
Located on the southeast edge of the University’s campus, the six-story building is known for its distinctive facade. The changing angle of the sun creates dynamic patterns of light and shadow as it plays across the beveled facade, the shadows on its monochrome surface giving the illusion of many shades of color.
The Center was completed in 2013. Planning has begun on the second phase, which will integrate with this building and the adjoining Armistead Building.
