Interior Design honors for Brody Learning Commons

Wednesday, 11 December 2013

When Interior Design magazine named Brody Learning Commons an honoree in the 2013 Best of Year Awards last week, it honored a place that the Johns Hopkins University community has called home – and nicknamed the BLC – since its doors opened in the fall of 2012.

Designed as a complement to the Eisenhower Library, the open and connected BLC offers a range of study spaces, a quiet reading room, and a state-of-the-art conservation lab. Its beauty is more than skin deep, though: the BLC is the first new building on Johns Hopkins’ Homewood campus in Baltimore to be LEED Gold Certified.

Brody Learning Commons is the third Shepley Bulfinch project to receive Interior Design Best of Year honors in the past four years. Past honorees include the Harvard Innovation Lab (2012) and [Phoenix] Link (2010).
