The new library is a milestone project for Ringling, which has expanded significantly in recent years, and will be the first building executed as part of the College’s campus master plan. The 50,000 square foot library, which will be located on a new site on campus, will quadruple the space of the present 12,000 square foot Kimbrough Library, which opened in 1980.
The design team is working with the Ringling College community in planning and programming the library over the months ahead, in parallel with the College’s fundraising efforts.
“Ringling really shares our passion for design,” said Shepley Bulfinch principal Angela Watson. “It’s not just about the building… We’re talking about how it relates to the outside spaces that surround it, and how it will engage with the rest of the campus.”
Shepley Bulfinch is designing the project in association with TOTeMS Architecture of Sarasota.
