Trends in campus design
Association of Jesuit Colleges & Universities facilities conference, Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH
Tom Kearns, AIA, LEED AP
Steve Erwin, AIA, LEED AP
In this presentation, Tom Kearns and Steve Erwin discuss the most critical issues facing Jesuit institutions over the next decade. They explore a number of trends in campus programming, planning, and design with themes that include collaboration and research, the integration of intellectual and social space, the revitalization of existing buildings, and the relationship between delivery, time, quality, and cost.
As part of the conference, Tom and Steve gave a tour of the transformative series of projects the firm is now undertaking on the Xavier campus. The Hoff Academic Quad project, comprising the Williams College of Business, Conaton Learning Commons, and a new central utility plant, are scheduled for completion later this year, while site preparation is underway for a new residence hall and central dining commons.
