ELGIN, IL – Sherman Hospital will host a community open house on December 6 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm to celebrate the December 15 landmark opening of its new hospital and its 154-acre campus. The hospital is organizing 25- and 60-minute tours of the new facility throughout the open house.
Visitors arriving at the hospital will pass by the manifold room of Sherman’s signature geothermal lake, circled by a walking path and landscaped with native plantings. The 15-acre lake will save the hospital more than $1 million in heating and cooling costs over conventional energy.
Other highlights will include the hospital’s light-filled dining spaces (pictured here) overlooking the lake, with a terrace for outdoor seating in warm weather. The healing courtyard, spanned by a bridge to the ICU, is sheltered between the hospital and the adjoining medical office building.
